While we have been quiet for the better part of last month, we’ve been going thru thousands of mp3’s but unfortunately the material which has been coming out lately has been rather disappointing, on the real thou, we came across an upcoming Kenyan Rap/Rnb group by the names Dr3amville.
Its amazing to see upcoming artistes from Kenya choosing to sing/rap in English nowadays, coz back in the day; artistes like Mercy Myra’s hubby, Bamboo, Kap 10 and Kantai were some of the few who would attempt and risk not getting airplay locally, as it was evident recently when Xtatic was interviewed and said she felt under appreciated in Kenya. Last year i was in Nairobi for the Chaguo la Teeniez Awards and when Camp Mulla stepped on the stage; the crowd was confused on who that was and what to do, they decided to just stare.
Things done changed around Rap Music in Kenya now, I mean Xtatic was the guest on Hip Hop Powernites show with Dj C-Live on 5fm this past Monday here in S.A, Camp Mulla is already home even thou we still waiting patiently for that debut album, Cr3wteflon is way above vernac, Coola Gang is on the verge. Now that’s the trick as I said earlier in this blog. Listen to “I wanna love you” by Dr3amville or rather Dreamteam ft Ron Mixa on the hook and tell us what you think of them. Do they have what it takes to be the next Kenyan act to blow internationally?
